Dessert Is Served: Apple Crisp

slice apples

sprinkle toppings, then place in oven
ready to be served

I found this scrumptious recipe over here, and boy let me tell you that it's a synch. The aroma of cinnamon, brown sugar, and oatmeal baking in your home will have your mouth watering. I normally have it prepped and ready to be put in the oven right before dinner time. When we begin dinner, I just pop it in the oven so it's cooking while we eat. The first time I made this it was served solo in a bowl, but the second time around we came prepared. The apple crisp was accompanied with a vanilla bean ice cream; I love the amalgamation of hot and cold mixed together!
*Note: We prefer more cooked apples for this dish, so I took the 35-40 minutes of cooking route versus the 30-35 minutes of cooking. Near the end of the cooking phase, you can test it by sticking a fork straight down into the dish to feel the desired doneness.
*Note: As you can see the recipe calls for 8 apples and serves a lot more than what I made above. Well since it's just me and hubby around here, I altered this recipe a tad to make it where we wouldn't have TONS of this left over. So I simply halved the recipe and I only used 2 green apples instead of 8. Also, if you do not have nutmeg on hand, don't panic, because I didn't either. I have never used it in this recipe and it tastes just great! If you do decide to use nutmeg, let me know how you like it!

Enjoy and happy hump day friends!
